June 21-22, 2018, Center for International Forest Products Trade, State Forestry Administration of China and International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO) jointly held in Beijing, "the global forest products international seminars and green supply chain leader dialogue", 12 leading forest enterprise launched "Initiative on Co-building a Global Green Supply Chain of Forest Products ".The initiative is as follows:
It is known to all that forest is the main carrier of land ecosystem, an important enabler of human survival and development, and closely related to human civilization. To conserve forest resources, safeguard ecological security and promote green development, we share the common responsibilities.
We believe timber is an important, reproducible and recyclable material, and an extraordinary material with its super function of carbon sequestration. It makes forest industry a sunrise sector, helping us to adapt to and mitigate climate change, and facilitate green, low-carbon development.
We know that the forest resources worldwide have been decreasing and degrading, and severely hampering sustainable social and economic development. As a result, forest industry is facing serious challenges. Promoting the sustainable use of forest resources is the common consensus throughout the world.
We realized that the green and sustainable development of forest industry requires joint efforts by governments, universities, research institutions and the industry, as well as cross-department, cross-region and cross-border cooperation.
Therefore, we are here calling for forest products businesses, industrial associations, research institutions, governments and international organizations to join hands. By working together, we will co-build a stable and well-ordered global green supply chain of forest products, effectively bridge up the upper-, mid- and down-stream across the industry chain, develop a green and sustainable system covering production, distribution and consumption of forest products, enhance the green transformation and upgrade of the industry, increase the utilization efficiency and effectiveness of forest resources, and eventually provide more and better forest products both at home and abroad.
We believe, by practicing the green development concept, and following the principles of co-building, co-sharing a win-win business environment in a fair, just, credible, cautious, progressive and well-organized manner, the industry will greet a brighter future, and make greater contribution to the sustainable development and human well-being.
